Woman sues after tripping at Blockbuster store

CHARLESTON - A Kanawha County woman has filed a personal injury lawsuit against Blockbuster, claiming she was injured at one of the locations.

Lisa G. Cantley filed a suit May 31 in Kanawha Circuit Court claiming she was visiting the South Charleston location of the video rental chain on Feb. 7, 2006, when she tripped over a tablecloth. Cantley claims the cloth was too long for the table and draped out in the aisle, which caused her to fall.

She received both temporary and permanent injuries, the suit says. Cantley also received medical and doctor bills, lost wages and enjoyment of life.

Cantley seeks compensatory and punitive damages.

Steven L. Gaylock is representing Cantley. The case has been assigned to Judge Tod Kaufman.
