CHARLESTON - The Marshall University Board of Governors has been named as defendants in a suit filed by a woman who fell on Marshall's Huntington campus.
Sheila Marks, with her husband, John Marks, filed a suit June 8 in Kanawha Circuit Court, against the Board of Governors of Marshall University.
Sheila Marks claims she was walking on campus Sept. 8, 2005, at the entrance of the Memorial Student Center, when she tripped and fell on a raised curb. She was injured, including a fractured right ankle.
Marks claims the Board of Governors failed to properly maintain the sidewalk and remove any obstacles.
She seeks compensation for her injuries and damages.
John Marks also claims he has lost the consortium, services and companionship of his wife. He seeks compensation for his damages.
Attorney Larry O. Ford is representing the Marks. The case has been assigned to Judge Tod Kaufman.
