Woman blames Old Colony, property owner for fall at home for sale

CHARLESTON - A Kanawha County woman filed a suit against a real estate company and the owner of a property after she was injured when she fell down stairs.

Brenda K. May filed a suit June 13 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Duane Scott Hanson and Old Colony Company. Hanson owns property in Clendenin, which was for sale through Old Colony.

May went to the advertised property Jan. 27, 2007, when she claims she fell down a staircase. As a result of the fall, she suffered numerous injuries to various parts of her body, the suit says.

May, through attorney Christopher J. Heavens, claims the company and the property owner were negligent. She seeks compensatory and punitive damages.

The case has been assigned to Judge James Stucky.
