Woman sues Empty Glass over injuries from bar scuffle

CHARLESTON - A Florida woman has filed a suit against a local bar owner after she was injured during a scuffle at the establishment.

Holly A. Thacker filed a suit June 26 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Chris Chaber, the president of Chab Inc., doing business as The Empty Glass, a Charleston bar.

The suit says Thacker was at The Empty Glass, located at 401 Elizabeth St., on Feb. 25, 2007.

While she was there, she claims Chaber accidentally knocked her to the ground, during a fight at the bar. After she fell, Thacker claims she hurt her hand.

According to the suit, Thacker suffered permanent diminution of use and disfigurement of her left hand, and has been forced to endure extensive medical treatment and surgery.

Thacker, through her attorney Shawn A. Taylor, seeks compensatory and punitive damages for her injuries.

The case has been assigned to Judge Jennifer Bailey Walker.
