* McCoy is suing Chapman Martin after the company replaced a gate valve in Kenova and filled the hole with dirt and gravel to make it even with the asphalt. The suit claims the pipeline then ruptured, forming a sinkhole in the street. McCoy then backed up over the alleged sinkhole and damaged her vehicle in the process. She claims Chapman Martin and the City of Kenova were negligent by not properly maintaining the worksite. She is also Reyburn's for the release of her vehicle after it was towed. McCoy is seeking compensatory and punitive damages.

William Napier v. Don Jarrell, Attorney at Law

* Napier and Jarrell own buildings in Wayne County that are adjacent to each other. The suit claims Jarrell had work done on the roof of his building which caused it to extend over and above Napier's. Subsequent water flow allegedly caused damage to Napier's building in excess of $30,000. According to Napier, the damage caused tenants to break their leases with him and left the building unable to be occupied. He is seeking compensatory damages.

Norfolk Southern Railway Company v. Betty Mynes

* Mynes owns and operates the business Handicap City Inc. on land currently owned by NSRC. The suit claims NSRC and Mynes entered into a lease agreement in 1986 in which the railroad company leased portions of its property and railroad right-of-way currently occupied by Mynes. NSRC, in an attempt to improve visibility at grade crossings, wishes to clear any potential obstructions. NSRC claims Mynes' building is a safety risk and seeks remove the structure.

Ora Renea Saunders v. Pike Electric, Inc.

* Michael Saunders, the Plaintiff's deceased husband, was employed by Pike Electric as a linesman. In June 2005, Saunders was working on a pole in Dunlow when he received an electrical shock and was killed. His wife claims Pike failed to perform a job briefing which would have informed Saunders of the dangers of the work he was performing. She also alleges Pike failed to adequately train her husband's supervisor, James Compton. According to the suit, Pike Electric deliberately and knowingly exposed to Saunders to dangerous conditions. She is seeking compensatory damages in the amount of $15,000 for funeral expenses.
