Women say they were fired from Wells Fargo because of their age

CHARLESTON - Charleston attorney Mark Atkinson has filed lawsuits on behalf of three Fayette County women who claim they were fired because of their age.

Belinda Joyce Sharp, Victoria Shelton and Auna Dee Tyree filed suits July 12 in Kanawha Circuit Court, against Wells Fargo Third Party Administrators, Inc.

All of the women claim they were employed by Wells Fargo for more than five years. Each was fired during a nine-day span in November 2006.

According to the suit, the women claim they were "willfully, maliciously and unlawfully" fired because of their age, which is a violation of the West Virginia Human Rights Act.

Each woman claims she is entitled to damages for indignity, embarrassment, humiliation and emotional distress.

They each seek lost wages and benefits, back pay, front pay and punitive damages.
