Sears, employee sued over vehicle accident

CHARLESTON - A Sears employee is bring sued by a woman who claims he was intoxicated while working and hit her with his vehicle.

Paula Hundley filed a suit Aug. 1 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Charles William Burlingame II and Sears Home Improvement Products, Inc.

According to the suit, Burlingame was working for Sears on Sept. 13, 2005, when he was driving while intoxicated. Hundley claims he caused a collision on Jefferson Road in South Charleston.

Hundley claims she injured her neck and back and incurred more than $70,000 in medical expenses. She also claims she was fired because of her injuries because she was unable to perform her job duties.

Hundley, through attorney Arden J. Curry II, seeks compensatory and punitive damages.

The case has been assigned to Judge James Stucky.
