HUNTINGTON – A CSX employee has filed a FELA lawsuit against the rail company after he claims he suffered an on-the-job injury.
Michael D. Sloas filed the suit Aug. 15 in federal court in Huntington against CSX Transportation Inc.
In the complaint, Sloas says he was working on Jan. 21, 2005, on his job as a pipefitter on a CSX locomotive in Huntington.
"Plaintiff was instructed to replace a Snyder Valve, which sits atop the fuel tank on the locomotive, using a 48-inch pipe wrench," the suit states. "In the process of performing these duties, plaintiff was caused to be injured and damaged."
Sloas says his injuries were caused by the negligence of CSX.
He has suffered pain and will do so in the future, has suffered loss of earnings and impairment of future earning capacity and has suffered loss of his enjoyment of life.
He seeks judgment against CSX "for a reasonable amount" in excess of $75,000 plus interest and costs.
