CHARLESTON - A Putnam County couple has filed a suit against a local grocer after the wife was injured when she fell in the store.
Pauline and Lewis Manley filed the suit Aug. 21 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Save A Lot. According to the suit, the Manleys were residents of Kanawha County when the incident occurred.
Pauline Manley claims that on Dec. 10, 2005, she was in the Cedar Grove store when she fell on a "wet, slippery substance which was not immediately visible to the naked eye and for which there were no warning barriers erected," the suit says.
Manley hurt her left arm, left knee and her face because of the fall. According to the suit, she required hospitalization and incurred medical expenses of approximately $13,000.
Lewis Manley claims he suffered loss of consortium and loss of wifely services from his wife.
The Manleys seek compensatory and punitive damages.
Attorney Michael T. Clifford is representing the Manleys. The case has been assigned to Judge James Stucky.
