Woman sues insurance agent after breaking arms at South Charleston office

CHARLESTON - A Putnam County woman has filed a suit against an insurance agent after she fell down a flight of stairs at the agent's South Charleston office.

Vickie Hudson filed a suit Aug. 24 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Faye Zinn and State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company. Zinn is a manager of the State Farm office on MacCorkle Avenue in South Charleston.

According to the suit, Hudson was at the office April 13, 2007, when she asked for direction to a certain location in the office.

Hudson claims an employee at the office gave her incorrect directions, which led her "into an unlit and unmarked stairwell," the suit says.

According to the suit, Hudson fell down the stairs, suffering two broken arms and other serious injuries and damages.

Hudson claims State Farm and employees of the company were negligent by failing to warn her of the danger of the stairs.

Hudson seeks compensatory damages, attorney fees and costs. She is being represented by attorney Brett J. Preston. The case has been assigned to Judge Louis Bloom.
