CHARLESTON - The executor of the estate of a Logan County man has filed a medical malpractice suit against the doctor and hospital that treated the man.
Alisa Proklevich filed a suit Aug. 24 in Kanawha Circuit Court on behalf of Stuart Glenn against Saint Francis Hospital and Dr. Abdur Rehman Khan.
According to the suit, Glenn was admitted to Saint Francis Hospital on April 20, 2005. A large pleural effusion was drained by Dr. Jay Requarth on April 23.
According to the suit, it was documented the Glenn began bleeding again that evening. However, Requarth was not called until 7 a.m. the next morning and informed the patient was hypovolemic, unstable and had bled an additional 1.2 liters.
As a result of the negligence, and bleeding through the night, Glenn underwent cardiac arrest and died during a surgical exploration later that morning.
According to the suit, the hospital and Khan were negligent by failing to properly recognize, diagnose and treat Glenn's bleeding that night and by not notifying Requarth of the bleeding.
Proklevich seeks compensation for her losses and damages sustained, including medical and funeral expenses.
Attorney John R. Mitchell is representing Proklevich. The case has been assigned to Judge Tod Kaufman.
