Woman sues after slip, fall at Charleston Civic Center event

CHARLESTON - A Kanawha County woman has filed a suit against the City of Charleston after she slipped and fell during an event at the Charleston Civic Center.

Molly Summers of Nitro filed the suit Sept. 14 in Kanawha Circuit Court against the city, Belkin Productions Inc. and Kelly Services Inc.

According to the suit, Summers was attending an event at the center Oct. 14, 2005. During the event, a section of the hallway was mopped but the defendants allegedly failed to warn the public that the area was wet and slippery.

Summers fell and sustained an injury on her right knee, which required surgical intervention.

Summers claims she has or will sustain past, present and future medical expenses, wage loss, pain and suffering, annoyance and inconvenience, and other damages.

Through attorney C. Benjamin Salango, Summers seeks full and fair compensation for her injuries.

The case has been assigned to Judge Tod Kaufman.
