CHARLESTON - A Kanawha County man has filed a suit against a local church, seeking damages for an injury that happened while he was doing construction on the church building.
David Lee Mines filed a suit Oct. 2 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Southeast Bible Missionary Church.
According to the suit, Mines was doing construction to the building located on Chesterfield Avenue in Charleston. While working one day, Mines was using an automatic nail gun while installing ductwork.
"While attempting to install the ductwork, the nail gun at issue malfunctioned and (Mines) was shot in the hand with a nail," the suit says.
The nail embedded in Mines' hand surgery was required to have it removed.
Mines claims Southeast owned him a duty to provide a safe working environment, and they breached that duty.
Therefore, Mines seeks compensatory and punitive damages.
Attorney Samuel A. Hrko is representing Mines. The case has been assigned to Judge James Stucky.
