Woman sees damages after falling at Charleston business

CHARLESTON - A Kanawha County woman injured when she fell at a downtown business has filed a suit, seeking at least $10,000 from the owners of a property where she fell.

Patsy Schumacher and her husband David E. Schumacher filed the suit Jan. 8 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Midtown Center Associates Limited Partnership and 405 Capital Street Corp.

According to the suit, Schumacher was a business invitee on April 25, 2006, to Midtown Center Associates. Schumacher claims she slipped and fell on a mat at the entrance of the office.

Schumacher claims she suffered injuries to her neck, chest and back, including her cervical, thoracic and lower spine. She claims she suffered $10,000 in medical expenses.

According to the suit, Schumacher seeks to be compensated for her medical expenses and other injuries and her husband's loss of consortium.

Attorney Arden J. Curry II is representing Schumacher. The case has been assigned to Judge Jennifer Bailey Walker.
