Putnam woman sues another over beating

WINFIELD – A Putnam County woman has filed suit after she was beaten by another woman.

Suzanne M. Spaulding of Eleanor filed the suit last month in Putnam Circuit Court against Mindy Jean Spaulding of Red House. The complaint does not state whether the women are related.

On Jan. 30, 2006, the plaintiff says the defendant committed a battery against her. As a result of that, Suzanne Spaulding says she has incurred medical expenses of more than $4,000, lost earnings of more than $8,000 and physical and mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, aggravation, annoyance and inconvenience.

She also says it is clear the injuries likely will be permanent and that other expenses will occur because of that.

Suzanne Spaulding seeks compensatory damages, interest, court costs and attorney fees. And because the attack was criminal, deliberate and willful, the plaintiff also seeks punitive damages.

The plaintiff is represented by Nitro attorney Harvey D. Peyton, and the case has been assigned to Circuit Judge O.C. "Hobby" Spaulding.

Putnam Circuit Court case number: 08-C-25
