Woman sues for slip, fall outside Kroger

CHARLESTON - A Kanawha County woman has filed a suit against a local grocery store after she was injured when she slipped and fell on ice and water that had accumulated near the entrance.

Wanda J. Love filed the suit March 19 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Kimco Riverwalk, which owns and operates the Kroger grocery store on MacCorkle Avenue in South Charleston.

According to the suit, Love was shopping at the store March 21, 2006, when she slipped on water and ice that was dripping from the roof of the entrance/exit door.

Love claims she sprained her right arm and wrist, fractured her right wrist, suffered arm, wrist and hand pain and swelling, as well as other injuries.

Love seeks compensatory and punitive damages for her injuries.

Attorney Michael B. Marlow is representing Love. The case has been assigned to Judge James Stucky.
