CHARLESTON - A Kanawha County woman has filed a suit against a local hospital after she was injured when she slipped on grease near the hospital's cafeteria.
Gardenia Snodgrass and her husband, Joseph, filed a suit March 26 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Thomas Memorial Hospital.
According to the suit, Gardenia Snodgrass was at the hospital Sept. 21, 2006, visiting a family member who was a patient.
On her way out of the hospital, Snodgrass was walking down a hallway near the cafeteria when she slipped on spilled cooking oil and grease, the suit says.
Snodgrass claims she suffered permanent bodily injuries requiring continuing and ongoing medical care and treatment.
According to the suit, the Snodgrasses have suffered economic, special and non-economic damages, including medical care, nursing, domestic and household services, pain and suffering, mental anguish and distress, annoyance, aggravation, inconvenience, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of consortium and various sundry and other damages.
Attorney Arthur Chmiel is representing the Snodgrasses. The case has been assigned to Judge Louis Bloom.
