CHARLESTON - A Virginia man filed a suit against a former gubernatorial candidate, claiming he was not paid for services he performed.
John Rohrer filed a suit April 3 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Monty Warner, Dick Leggitt, the campaign manager for the Warner for Governor Campaign, and the Warner for Governor Campaign Committee.
Warner, a Republican, was a primary candidate for governor in 2004.
According to the suit, Rohrer entered into a verbal contract in June 2004, to provide consulting services to the campaign. According to a letter from Leggitt, Rohrer was to be paid $6,000 a month from June to October, and $3,000 for a half-month of service in November. He was also to receive a $5,000 bonus is the campaign won.
Between June 2004 and November 2004, Rohrer provided services to the committee, Leggitt and Warner. He claims he has not been paid for those services.
To date, Rohrer claims he is owed $18,916.67. According to the suit, Leggitt is personally responsible for the non-payment, since he was the campaign manager.
He seeks compensation for his consulting services.
Attorney Michael J. DelGuidice is representing Rohrer. The case has been assigned to Judge Paul Zakaib.
