Woman sues Marshall CTC for wrongful firing

HUNTINGTON - A Cabell County woman filed a suit against a local college, claiming she was fired because she is a female.

Deborah Williams filed the suit May 16 in Cabell Circuit Court against Marshall Community and Technical College.

According to the suit, Williams was an instructor and program coordinator at the community college. She was fired May 16, 2007.

She claims she was fired because she is female, and a male instructor who was less qualified filled the position.

Williams claims she lost wages and other employee benefits and will continue to lose wages and employment benefits in the future.

She seeks compensatory and punitive damages for her injuries.

Attorney Harold S. Albertson Jr. is representing Williams.
