Woman sues after fall at Sissonville Foodland

CHARLESTON - A Kanawha County woman has filed a suit against a local grocery store after she was injured when she fell in the store.

Carolyn Hart filed the suit May 21 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Sissonville Foodland and the owner, Hudson Hamady.

According to the suit, Hart was shopping at the store June 1, 2006, when she tripped over large cracks near the entrance to the store. Hart claims the fall placed her in a weakened condition, which later caused her to fall and fracture her arm.

Hart claims she suffered injuries to her left hip, left arm, hands and her left knee.

Her husband, Thomas Hart, claims he was deprived of the society, companionship, consortium and services of his wife. Together, they seek compensation for their losses and damages.

Attorney J. Mitchell, Sr. is representing the Harts. The case has been assigned to Judge James Stucky.
