Woman sues Wal-Mart after slipping on baby food

CHARLESTON - A Kanawha County woman filed a suit against a national retail giant after she slipped on a spilled jar of baby food at the Nitro location.

Claudia Withrow filed a suit June 25 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Stores and Rob Greenleaf, the manager of the Nitro location.

According to the suit, Withrow was shopping in the grocery store at Wal-Mart on June 28, 2006, when she slipped and fell on a spilled jar of baby food that had been left in a common area.

Withrow claims she was injured and experience medical expenses, injuries, and suffered great pain of the body and mind.

Withrow seeks compensatory damages in a sum not to exceed $74,999, plus punitive damages.

Attorney Trent Redman is representing Withrow. The case has been assigned to Judge Irene Berger.
