Marcus Hairston v. Barbie Moody-Wood, d/b/a Huntington Heroes

* Hairston agreed to play semi-professional football for the Heroes in November 2006. In March 2007, he injured his left leg in a game versus the Carolina Speed in Concord, N.C. The suit claims his employment contract stated that he would be covered by workers' compensation benefits. However, BrickStreet Mutual Insurance Company denied his claim because the Heroes did not have workers' compensation coverage. He claims his injuries have cost in excess of $15,000 thus far. He is seeking compensatory and punitive damages.

Rebecca McCallister v. Huntington Mall Company

* McCallister was visiting the Huntington Mall when she allegedly slipped and fell on a spilled soft drink in the common area of the facility. She claims the defendant should have warned her of the liquid.

Criss Wade v. Marcum Material Handling

* Wade was an employee of Supervalu Holdings as a truck driver with warehouse duties. Marcus Material was a company that repaired and maintained Supervalu's warehouse equipment, including a pallet jack. Wade claims that in February 2007 a pallet jack operated by a co-worker struck his leg. The equipment had been allegedly serviced by Marcum Material and the brakes did not work, according to Wade.

Lyndol Austin Curry v. St. Mary's Medical Center Inc.

*Curry was allegedly admitted to St. Mary's on Sept. 13, 2007. She claims that prior to her discharge, she was maliciously and unlawfully forced to get out of bed and subsequently broker her ankle. She is seeking compensatory damages.

David McMellon v. Willie Adkins
PA-Anders W. Lindberg; J-John L. Cummings
* Adkins was an employee of Steel of West Virginia and was present at the Union's picket lines during a strike that occurred in August 2006. According to the suit, McMellon came to the picket line to assist a truck driver seeking to make a delivery to Steel of West Virginia. McMellon claims that Adkins began to beat him, striking him repeatedly in the head, ribs and other areas of his body. McMellon is seeking compensatory and punitive damages.
