* The plaintiffs says the drug Phenytoin was responsible for personal injuries and the wrongful death of Jackie D. Cooper. They claim the defendants "were engaged in the business of testing, manufacturing, packaging, marketing, labeling, adverse drug event reporting or non-reporting, distribution, promotion and/or sale of Phenytoin." It also says Cooper's physician "was deprived of the ability to full assess the risks when making the decision to prescribe these drugs due to the defendants; deficient and inadequate warning." Cooper, a former Lincoln County sheriff, died Aug. 7, 2006. "His death certificate states he had cardiac arrest and multi organ failures resulting from 'toxic epidermal necrolysis.'"
