* The plaintiff, individually and as administrator of the estate of Andrew E. Longerbeam, claims the defendants were negligent and failed to properly care for Andrew Longerbeam when the plaintiff took her 3-year-old son to City Hospital in Martinsburg on Aug. 23 for a severe sore throat. She claims her son was examined briefly and then sent home. That night the toddler died in his sleep, and an autopsy determined that he died because of an acute throat infection, which blocked his airway and caused respiratory and cardiac arrest. The plaintiff is seeking an amount of relief to be determined at trial.

* The plaintiff, individually as an administrator of the estate of his mother, Ann Brooks Rowe, claims that the defendant, who is his uncle, failed to adhere to Ann Brooks Rowe's dying wishes and acted with threats, perjury and malice toward the plaintiff in the years following Ann's death in March 1997. The plaintiff is seeking at least $6,090,110.80 from the defendants for real estate losses and other damages.
