HUNTINGTON –- A man has sued his former employer and two other companies after he was injured on the job.
William Payne filed the suit Nov. 26 in federal court in Huntington.
A former employee of Superior Marine Inc., Payne filed the suit against his former employer, Riverway South Inc. and Ingram Barge Co. after being injured on the job.
According to the suit, Riverway South operated as a coal processing facility that was responsible for the cleaning of barges upon which Payne was required to work. Ingram Barge Co. was responsible for overseeing the cleaning activity.
Payne, who worked as a crew member aboard Superior Marine's vessels, was required to walk on a barge strewn with coal concealing a hatch that he went through, causing injury.
Payne seeks compensations for pain and suffering, mortification and humiliation, loss of earning and earning capacity, medical expenses and mental anguish.
