* VanHorn, a Jackson County resident, was attempting to cross 4th Avenue in Huntington in January 2007. According to the suit, she was struck by Edwards, who was driving a 1999 Ford Mustang. VanHorn claims she has sustained medical bills in the amount of $42,896 and seeks compensation in that amount.

Verizon West Virginia, Inc. v. Turman Construction Company n/k/a CL Wilson Construction, Inc.

* Verizon claims a Mac dump truck driven by an employee of Turman Construction struck the company's telecommunications cable that was located at the intersection of 1st Street and 6th Avenue. Acccording to the suit, Verizon has had to replace 580 feet of the cable as a result of the accident at a cost of $49,142. The company seeks damages in that amount.

Shane Fletcher v. L.K.V., Inc., d/b/a Sassy's

* Fletcher claims someone stole his identity and then cashed $35,021 worth of tax ticket video lottery winnings. The tickets were cashed at Sassy's. Fletcher has been notified by the IRS that he is responsible for $8,000 in taxes related to the lottery winnings. He claims Sassy's breached its statutory duty by allowing someone to steal his identity, forge W-2G Forms and receive the money. He seeks compensatory and punitive damages.
