Holly Winell, as representative of the estate of Vera Jordan v. Fairhaven Rest Home, Inc.

* Jordan was a 57-year-old resident of Fairhaven Rest Home and suffered from dementia. The suit claims in November 2008 she was left unattended in a second floor dining room and wandered into an open stairwell. Jordan fell down the stairs, suffered head injuries and subsequently died at Cabell Huntington Hospital. According to her daughter, Holly Winell, the nursing home violated the Nursing Home Act and is responsible for her mother's wrongful death. She is seeking punitive damages.

Mark W. Anderson v. Gary S. Carter

* Anderson loaned Carter $24,000 for the purpose of purchasing a business from Anderson. The agreement stipulated that Carter would make monthly payments of $200 from January 2008 until December 2017. Anderson claims Carter made a total of two payments before breaching the contract in March 2008. He is suing Carter for the balance of the loan, $23,600.

Cheryl Colburn v. Coal Exchange Building LLC

* Colburn worked for American Benefit Corporation in Huntington's Coal Exchange Building on 11th Street. The owners of the building contracted some work to be done to the interior of the property. According to the suit, the contractors removed a portion of the wall in the office area in which Colburn worked. This released dust and mold into the office, according to Colburn. She claims she has suffered respiratory injuries, mental pain and suffering and incurred hospital expenses. She is seeking compensatory damages.

Todd Wilson v. Don Withers

* Wilson agreed to sell Withers all of his shares in Hanley Wilson, Inc., for $75,000. Withers paid Wilson $8,000 on July 9, 2008, and $57,000 on Sept. 3, 2008. Wilson claims he is still owed $10,000 and is suing Withers for that amount.

Sara Tonya Hicks and Kenneth P. Hicks v. R.H. Jeffers Corp. II, dba Buffalo Wild Wings, Jessie Jones and Donna Howard

* Kenneth Hicks is an attorney whose practice is located along 4th Avenue in Huntington, next door to the Buffalo Wild Wings, a bar/restaurant. Hicks claims Jones, an employee of the bar, was under the influence of drugs and alcohol and drove her 1991 Lincoln Town Car into the rear of Hicks' property. The suit also alleges that Jones attempted to flee the scene but was subsequently arrested by the Huntington Police Department. Hicks is seeking the money necessary to repair the damage done to the rear of his office building.
