MORGANTOWN – A Shinnston man is suing a group of companies and officers over injuries he sustained from an allegedly malfunctioning man-lift.
Milan Patrick filed a lawsuit April 9 in Monongalia Circuit Court against Panco Properties, Victory Holdings, Joseph Panico, Cathy Panico, Genco Land and Development and Antonio Colasante.
Patrick claims he was hired by the defendants to do remodeling work on an apartment building located on Brockway Avenue in Morgantown.
The complaint says the plaintiff was required to use a 1995 Genie S40 man-lift to do soffit and siding work on the building.
Patrick contends that the man-lift, which the defendants allegedly own, was not well maintained and had a non-working safety warning system.
On April 10, 2007, Patrick contends he was in the bucket of the man-lift with the boom fully extended doing work on the apartment building.
The man-lift lost stability and traction and toppled over, pinning Patrick between the bucket and a parked car, the complaint says.
As a result, Patrick contends he suffered broken bones and abrasions.
Patrick is seeking compensatory and punitive damages against the defendants.
Timothy J. Manchin is representing the plaintiff.
