CHARLESTON – A woman claims she was injured by a gate at the entrance to a parking facility at a Charleston hospital.
Thelma J. Hern filed a lawsuit May 7 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Charleston Area Medical Center and Central Parking System of Kentucky.
Hern claims she came to one of CAMC's facilities in Charleston on May 7, 2007 as a patient. She was walking with the assistance of a walker and was on oxygen.
She claims she was knocked unconscious when the parking gate arm came down on her head.
The lawsuit claims the defendants were negligent because traffic cones had directed pedestrians to walk near the parking gate arm.
Hern is seeking compensatory damages.
Kimberly E. Williams is representing the plaintiff. The case is before Kanawha Circuit Judge Charles King.
