Gerri Prince and Calvin Prince v. Huntington Mall Company, Chestnut Land Company d/b/a Auntie Anne's and Zale Delaware, Inc. d/b/a Piercing Pagoda

* On Aug. 30, 2007, Gerri Prince was at the Huntington Mall between Auntie Anne's and Piercing Pagoda when she allegedly stepped into a foreign substance. She claims the companies negligently caused or allowed the substance to be on the floor and failed to take adequate measures to clean it up, causing her to slip and fall. According to the suit, Ms. Prince sustained various injuries, including injuries to her left foot. She is suing for an amount for attorney fees, court costs and interest. Her husband, Calvin Prince, is suing for loss of consortium, society and companionship.

Steven E. Meacham, personal representative and administrator for the lawful heirs of the Estate of Steven Robinette v. Prichard Lawn Care, Inc. and American Electric Power Company, Inc.

* Robinette, an employee of Prichard Lawn Care, was working at a job site owned by American Electric Power Company to cut and remove trees and tree lines on June 30, 2008. According to the suit, Robinette was struck by a large tree limb causing serious injuries which resulted in his death. Meacham claims Robinette's death was due to hazardous and dangerous conditions caused by the negligence of Prichard Lawn Care and the company allegedly fails to properly train, supervise and maintain a safe work place for its employees. Meacham is suing for an amount to compensate Robinette's heirs, court costs and attorney fees.

Thalia Byrd, individually and as the parent of Cera Byrd v. Anita A. Gibson

* On Dec. 5, 2008 Thalia and Cera Byrd were pedestrians on 9th Avenue and 8th Street when Gibson began making a left turn onto 8th Street, according to the suit. Gibson allegedly failed to yield and struck Thalia Byrd and Cera Byrd. Thalia Byrd suffered severe head trauma and was injured in her head, neck, back, shoulders and other parts of her body and Cera Byrd suffered injuries to her body, mental anguish and emotional distress from witnessing her mother being severely injured, according to the suit. They are suing for punitive damages.

Damartae D. Wiggins v. Jeffery Lee King

* On Sept. 10, 2008 Wiggins was walking along 28th Street when he saw a public transportation bus heading to a nearby bus stop. Wiggins determined there was no traffic and began to cross the roadway, according to the suit. King was allegedly driving down 28th Street and was in the same lane as the bus. When he attempted to pull his vehicle out of the lane of traffic and into the other, he struck Wiggins, who was then thrown on top of King's vehicle, according to the suit. Wiggins is suing for compensatory damages, punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interest and attorney fees, costs and expenses.

Ezra Conn and Patricia Conn v. Linda Bennett

* Patricia Conn, daughter of Bennett, and her husband, Ezra Conn went to Bennett's home on July 4, 2007, to retrieve Ms. Conn's purse, where she'd left it the night before. According to the suit, while there Ezra Conn was attacked with a knife by Maria Lecca, Bennett's sister, allegedly causing a near fatal knife wound that caused a pneumothorax, acute stress disorder, panic disorder with agoraphobia, insomnia, nightmares and increased irritability. Patricia and Ezra Conn claimed they were not aware that Lecca had been released from prison in Michigan for a murder charge and it was Bennett's duty to warn them and other visitors of Lecca's violent nature and criminal history. They are suing for medical and hospital expenses in the approximate amount of $29,000.

Jeanne Kendall v. Dick's Sporting Goods Inc.

* Kendall was in Dick's at the Huntington Mall on July 5, 2007, when she allegedly slid on water or another slippery substance and fell, landing on her left knee. According to the suit, Kendall's knee required medical attention and the store was negligent in keeping the premises in safe conditions and warning the public of the dangerous situation. She is suing for compensatory damages.

Randi Bogard v. Taxi Services Inc. and Russell H. Elliott

* On May 5, 2008 Bogard was standing beside a parked vehicle in the 1300 block of 4th Avenue when Elliott, who was operating the 2000 Ford Crown Victoria taxi cab owned by Taxi Services, allegedly caused his vehicle to strike Bogard. This caused her severe personal injuries, pain and suffering, great annoyance and inconvenience and permanent injury to her body, according to the suit. Bogard is suing for incurred expenses for hospital and medical services and compensatory damages, plus interest.
