Frankye Touchett v. Cabell Huntington Hospital

* On July 22, 2007, Touchett was a patient at Cabell Huntington Hospital undergoing diagnostic procedures to rule out cardiac-related problems for chest pain. While undergoing a CT angiography hospital personnel made multiple attempts at gaining IV access in her right hand. Touchett claims she began feeling an intense burning sensation when the contrast dye was pushed through the IV and she allegedly began screaming to personnel for help, who did not immediately respond. According to the suit, her hand became swollen, resulting in tissue damage from decubitis ulceration and necrosis. She is suing for medical negligence, punitive and compensatory damages.

Samuel J. Perry v. SWVA, Inc. d/b/a Steel of West Virginia and John Doe Entity or Entities

*On July 19, 2007 Perry was an employee of Steel of West Virginia when he and other coworkers were instructed to repair an overheating gearbox with an oxygen/fuel gas torch. Perry claims the foreman did not determine if the lubricant in the gearbox was combustible or not and did not instruct them to wear safety equipment. According to the suit, when the torch flame came in contact with the gearbox there was an explosion, causing Perry to suffer arm, neck, ear and face injuries. He is suing for $25,000 in hospital bills, $50,000 in lost wages and punitive damages.
