Woman says lawyers caused her to lose case

CHARLESTON – A woman claims she hired a group of local lawyers to represent her in a case, but their inaction cost her $400,000.

Ann M. Davis filed a lawsuit July 15 in Kanawha Circuit Court against lawyers John E. Lutz, J.W. Riccaardi and Raymond G. Dodson.

Davis claims she hired the lawyers to sue a stock broker for negligence and fraud relating to a $99,000 investment she made.

The plaintiff claims that her lawyers did not file the case within the statute of limitations, preventing her from receiving $100,000 in compensatory damages and $300,000 in punitive damages.

She's seeking $500,000 in damages from the defendant lawyers.

Timothy N. Barber is representing the plaintiff. The case is before Kanawha Circuit Judge James Stucky.
