Deliverywoman sues credit union after slip, fall

HUNTINGTON -- After a fall that cause her injury, a woman is suing Huntington Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Employees Credit Union.

Maureena Waldroop claims she was making a delivery for Small Stuff, Inc. to the credit union on Feb. 14, 2008 when the fall occurred.

When Waldroop exited the building and was about 10 feet from the front door, she slipped on ice and snow on the sidewalk and fell, according to a complaint filed in Cabell County Circuit Court Sept. 25. She claims the sidewalk had been neither cleared nor salted.

Waldroop claims the credit union was responsible for inspecting and maintaining the property and was aware, or reasonably should have been aware, that the condition existed and failed to warn her.

According to the suit, Waldroop sustained physical and mental pain and suffering; loss of enjoyment of life; embarrassment; loss of wages; humiliation; annoyance and inconvenience; and has incurred expenses for traveling and medical care.

Waldroop is suing for compensatory damages. Kenneth P. Hicks and Richard G. Conley of Kenneth P. Hicks L.C. are representing her.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge David M. Pancake.
