WHEELING -- A former employee is suing Columbia Gas Transmission and NiSource Corporate Services Company for breach of contract.
Thomas Twain Faulkner worked for Columbia Gas Transmission for over 20 years, according to a complaint filed Oct. 9 in Ohio Circuit Court.
Faulkner claims he was a good and valuable employee and was told by an authorized representative that there would not be a position for him in the reorganization of the company.
A severance package was offered to Faulkner with a draft job description he claims was not comparable to the job he was performing.
Faulkner claims others in the company were offered comparable packages and he signed and set the completed agreement to the company.
According to the suit, the company's human resources consultant, Mel Kosonavich, denied Faulkner's request for severance pay.
Faulkner is suing for an order declaring NiSource and Columbia Gas to have breached the agreement, and for damages resulting from the breach, including those for delay in treatment of his medical conditions. Timothy F. Cogan and Patrick S. Cassidy of Cogan & Voegelin are representing him.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Arthur M. Recht.
