CHARLESTON -- A woman is suing a Charleston surgeon for negligence and medical malpractice.
Nancy Rosette was a patient of Dr. Arturo Lim, a general surgeon, from Oct. 25 to Nov. 12, 2007. Lim was treating Rosette for gall bladder problems, according to a complaint filed Oct. 27 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
On Nov. 12, 2007, Lim performed a laparoscopic cholecystectomy on Rosette. During the surgery, Lim clipped and divided what he thought to be a cystic duct, which it was not, according to the suit.
Rosette claims she has undergone numerous surgical procedures to correct Lim's error. She has incurred damages, including past and future medical expenses; past and future lost homemaker services; past and future mental and physical pain and suffering; and loss of her capacity to enjoy life.
Rosette is suing for compensatory damages. Michael J. Del Giudice is representing her.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Tod J. Kaufman.
