HUNTINGTON -- A woman and her husband are suing a Huntington physician for a surgery he performed in 2007.
On Aug. 6, 2007, Dr. Mitchell E. Nutt, an obstetrician and gynecologist, performed surgery on Teressa Hager at St. Mary's Medical Center, according to a complaint filed Oct. 29 in Cabell Circuit Court.
Nutt performed an anterior colporrhaphy with excision of para-vaginal scarring and a portion of a prior implanted PelviSoft graft. He also implanted an Avaulta Anterior graft.
Hager claims since the surgery she has experienced significant mental and physical pain and suffering, has sustained permanent injury, permanent and substantial physical deformity and loss of a bodily organ system. She also claims she has undergone and will likely undergo in the future corrective surgeries and has endured impaired physical relations with her husband, David Hager.
The Hagers are suing for compensatory and punitive damages for negligence and loss of consortium. Paul T. Farrell Jr. and Lawrence J. Tweel of Greene, Ketchum, Bailey, Walker, Farrell & Tweel; and J. Robert Rogers are representing them.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge David M. Pancake.
