WAYNE -- A woman is suing Rite Aid after an injury in their Lavalette store.
On Oct. 28, 2005, Angela Marshall went to Rite Aid and while shopping in one of the aisles, an object fell on her, according to a complaint filed Oct. 30 in Wayne Circuit Court.
Marshall claims the object was a display, sign light or other object.
Rite Aid had a duty under common law to exercise reasonable care to protect her from injury on its premises, which included the duty to make reasonable inspections to discover hazardous conditions and taking reasonable steps to protect her from such conditions, according to the suit.
Marshall claims she has suffered severe injuries to her face, back, hips, legs and other parts of her body, causing pain, suffering and permanent damages. She also claims to have incurred dental, medical and hospital expenses.
Marshall is suing for compensatory, consequential, incidental, special and medical damages. Scott G. Stapleton of Stapleton Law Offices is representing her.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge James H. Young Jr.
