Huntington city attorney charged with DUI

HUNTINGTON - Following a single-vehicle accident prior to Thanksgiving, Huntington's city attorney was charged for driving under the influence.

Scott E. McClure, 39, was arrested, and charged with first offense DUI on Wed. Nov. 25 after he wrecked his Jeep Wrangler into a utility pole on the 1300 block of Enslow Blvd. in Huntington. The criminal complaint does not specify a time.

According to Officer P. Cathcart of the Huntington Police Department, McClure had "glassy eyes, poor coordination and the strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath." When McClure failed to perform field sobriety tests, and submit to a breathalyzer, Cathcart placed him under arrest.

Records show McClure was arraigned before Cabell Magistrate Dan Goheen early the next morning, and released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond. As of presstime, his case had not been set for trial.

According to the city's Finance Office, McClure has been Huntington's attorney since January 2005, and is paid a salary of $67,250.
