Three more sue Halftime Sports after failure to receive wages

CHARLESTON -- Three more former employees are suing Halftime Sports and its owners in three separate cases for failing to pay their wages.

Tiffany Johnson, Dorothy Harper and Chaz R. Boggess all worked at Halftimes Sports Bar & Grill during the month of August 2009 and never received their wages, according to three complaints filed Nov. 6 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Halftime Sports was owned by Michael Hughes and Richard Rose.

Johnson and Harper claim they did not receive their wages for two pay periods in August; from Aug. 3 until Aug. 16 and from Aug. 17 until Aug. 26.

Boggess claims he was discharged from his employment on Aug. 19, 2009, and was not paid his wages within 72 hours.

According to the suits, Halftimes Sports Bar and Grill closed Aug. 26, 2009

Johnson and Harper are suing for compensatory and punitive damages on two counts of violation of wage payment and one count of fraud. Boggess is suing for violation of wage payment. Todd S. Bailess of Bailess Law is representing them.

Johnson's case has been assigned to Circuit Judge James C. Stucky, Harper's case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Paul Zakaib Jr., and Boggess' case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Louis Bloom.

In October, eight other former employees filed similar cases against Halftime Sports.
