CHARLESTON -- A woman is suing Thomas Memorial Hospital after she claims her brother-in-law was not cared for properly.
On June 6, 2008, Danny Workman was admitted to Thomas Memorial Hospital, according to a complaint filed Dec. 10 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Jennifer Workman claims during her brother-in-law's time at the hospital, employees at the hospital were negligent in caring and treating Mr. Workman.
Employees of the hospital failed to timely perform and report results of critical diagnostic tests that had been ordered after a change in Mr. Workman's status on June 11, according to the suit. Jennifer Workman claims she tests were not performed or reported for several hours.
Jennifer Workman claims her brother-in-law was forced to endure mental and physical pain and suffering; was injured to a disabling extent in his body, mental and emotional functions; and was grievously injured as a result of the defendant's negligence.
Mr. Workman died June 12, 2008.
Jennifer Workman is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. She is being represented by William S. Druckman and Madonna C. Estep of the Law Offices of Druckman & Estep.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Tod J. Kaufman.
