* HSBC went to magistrate court claiming the Alkol man owed a $1,407 debt. The case was removed to circuit court on defendant's motion. Contego's Anthony J. Majestro and J.C. Powell filed an answer, counterclaim and third-party complaint for Bias contending, among other things, that HSBC Bank Nevada violated the West Virginia Consumer Credit and Protection Act. They seek jury trail.

* Nationwide says it paid a total of $4,000 for medical claims to Nessel on behalf of two insured clients; but amicable attempts to collect "subrogation interests" have failed. The insurance company wants a jury to award compensatory damages, plus allowable interest and legal expenses.

* Bryant's personal injury suit says the grocer failed to place a warning sign near coolers where the floor was wet, resulting in her injuries in May 2008. She demands jury judgment in an amount equal to or in excess of jurisdictional limits, plus legal costs and pre- and post-judgment interests.
