Woman names 23 companies in asbestos case

CHARLESTON -- A woman is suing multiple companies in an asbestos-related suit.

Hilma F. Goddard named 23 companies as defendants in her case as the executrix of the estate of David Lee Goddard, according to a complaint filed Dec. 23 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Mrs. Goddard claims he husband was exposed to asbestos products of the defendants while working at various job sites over many years.

Mr. Goddard was diagnosed with mesothelioma on March 2008 and died April 25, 2008. Mrs. Goddard claims her husband smoked two packs of cigarettes each day for 19 years, but quit in 1973.

Mrs. Goddard is suing for a trial by jury to resolve all issues concerning her asbestos-related case. She is being represented by Cindy J. Kiblinger of James F. Humphreys & Associates and Victoria Antion of Motley Rice.

The case has been assigned to a visiting judge.

The companies named in the case are 3M Company; A.W. Chesterton; Allied Glove Corporation; American Optical Corporation; Certainteed Corporation; Cleaver-Brooks Company, Inc.; E. I. DuPont De Nemours; Flowserve US, Inc.; Garlock, Inc.; General Electric Company; Guard-Line, Inc.; Industrial Holdings Corporation; Ingersoll-Rand Company; Metropolitan Life Insurance Company; Nitro Industrial Coverings, Inc.; Ohio Valley Insulating Company, Inc.; Owens-Illinois, Inc.; Rapid American Corporation; Riley Stoker Corporation; Tasco Insulations, Inc.; UB West Virginia, Inc.; Viacom, Inc.; and Vimasco Corporation.
