CHARLESTON -- The widow of a Charleston police officer who was killed by another officer at the end of a high-speed chase in September is suing the estate of the man who led the police on the chase and his passenger.

Samantha Jones was appointed Administratrix of Jerry Jones' Estate on Oct. 15. She claims Brian Good and Natasha Light caused her husband's death the night of Sept. 13, according to a complaint filed Jan. 12 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Good and Light negligently, carelessly and unlawfully operated his vehicle in such a manner as to cause the death of Mr. Jones, according to the suit.

Good and Light led the police on a chase beginning in Charleston's East End and ending in a gravel area off of Quick Road near Pinch when multiple police cruisers pinned Good's truck.

Mr. Jones and two other officers fired their weapons as Good tried to get away. He and Good were killed during the incident, according to the suit.

Mrs. Jones claims her husband was injured by the wrongful acts of the defendants and later died as a result. She claims her husband experienced pain and suffering, mental anguish and emotional distress associated with a gunshot wound and his death.

Mrs. Jones is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. She is being represented by J. Michael Ranson, Cynthia M. Ranson and George B. Morrone III of Ranson Law Offices.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Jennifer Bailey.
