Woman sues Huntington man for son's injury

HUNTINGTON -- A woman is suing a Huntington man after her deceased son was injured at his residence.

David Scott Manchester was working on construction at the residence of Marco Solis when he was injured at work.

Solis covered a large hole in the floor of his residence and on Jan. 15, 2008, when Manchester was retrieving some items at the end of the day, he stepped on the covering placed over the hole and fell through to the next floor down, according to a complaint filed Jan. 15 in Cabell Circuit Court.

Manchester was unaware of the hole and since he could not see it, fell through it, according to the suit.

Manchester sustained injuries to his back, legs and neck.

Manchester's mother, Peggy Sue Manchester, claims her son suffered physical and mental pain and suffering; a diminution on his capacity to enjoy life; embarrassment, humiliation, annoyance and inconvenience; and incurred expenses for travelling, medical treatment and hospital visits.

Peggy Sue Manchester is seeking compensatory damages. She is being represented by R. Stephen Jarrell.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge F. Jane Hustead.
