St. Albans woman alleges Putnam salvage yard visit resulted in injury

WINFIELD - A Kanawha County woman's trip to a Putnam County salvage yard two years ago resulted in an unexpected trip to the hospital.

Lisa Ann Moubray filed suit against West Virginia Cashin Recyclables Inc. in Putnam Circuit Court. In her complaint filed on Jan. 29, Moubray, 43, of St. Albans, alleges unsafe conditions at West Virginia Cashin's facility in Nitro caused her to receive over two dozen stitches to her face after falling against a cabinet in 2008.

According to her suit, Moubray went to West Virginia Cashin on March 11, 2008, to deliver salvage material. Exactly what she was delivering is not specified in court records.

Nevertheless, upon arriving she directed by an employee to where she could unload the materials. After exiting her truck she hit her face on a metal cabinet "because of the irregular nature of the ground and the unsafe and hazardous condition of a pile of waste materials on the premises."

Though she was "bleeding profusely" from her face, and eye, Moubray alleges nobody from West Virginia Cashin provided her first aid. However, she was later taken to Thomas Memorial Hospital where, among other things, she received 25 stitches on her right eye.

Since her injury, Moubray alleges she's "been to several health care professionals and received extensive treatment in an attempt to repair and heal injuries suffered" that would not have occurred had West Virginia Cashin kept her informed of dangerous conditions. As a result of the injuries, Moubray alleges she's suffered physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, emotional distress, inconvenience, annoyance, disfigurement and loss of enjoyment of life.

Moubray seeks unspecified damages, court costs, attorney fees and interest. She is represented by Charleston attorney Norman T. Daniels.

The case is assigned to Judge Philip M. Stowers.
