Charleston woman sues Family Dollar for injuries

CHARLESTON -- A Charleston woman is suing Family Dollar Stores of West Virginia Inc. and Family Dollar Operations Inc. after she was injured at the company's Charleston location.

On Feb. 7, 2008, Betty Turley was attempting to enter the Family Dollar on Washington Street when the door snapped back and hit her, knocking her down, according to a complaint filed Feb. 4 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Turley claims the defendants were aware of the hazard the door presented and had a duty to maintain its premises in a reasonable, safe condition.

Turley claims she has suffered great pain of body and mind and has incurred expenses for medical care in the amount of $5,221.11.

Turley is seeking compensatory damages. She is being represented by Michael A. Turkaly.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Paul Zakaib Jr.
