CHARLESTON -- A former employee is suing West Virginia Media Holdings for wrongful termination.
Robin R. Spencer worked for the defendant, which does business in Charleston as WOWK-TV, according to a complaint filed Feb. 16 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Spencer claims he was employed as a photographer in the defendant's news division. During his employment, he claims he never was offered training in digital photography, nor was his schedule ever arranged so he could be available for such training.
On Feb. 17, 2009, Spencer claims his employment was unlawfully terminated based on his age or for other reasons, all in violation of the provisions of the West Virginia Human Rights Act.
Spencer is seeking compensatory and punitive damages and all wage and benefit losses. He is being represented by Michael T. Clifford.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Tod J. Kaufman.
