Former patient sues City Hospital for injury

MARTINSBURG -- A Jefferson County woman is suing City Hospital, Inc., after she claims they were negligent in failing to protect her from being injured while she was a patient.

On Aug. 20, 2008, Carole L. Bowling was attacked by a female Alzheimer patient and injured while she was a patient at City Hospital, according to a complaint filed March 17 in Berkeley Circuit Court.

Bowling claims she did not know the name of the woman who attacker her, nor did she know anything about why the woman was allowed to enter her room and attack her.

As a result, Bowling's left shoulder was injured in the attack.

Bowling claims City Hospital had a duty to exercise ordinary care to protect her from injury and failed to do so.

Bowling is seeking damages in the amount that is determined at trial. He is being represented by David J. Humphreys.
