CHARLESTON -- A former employee is suing Critchfield Utilities after he claims it failed to timely pay his employment wages by the next regular pay day.
Mark Velez worked for the defendant from March 26 until he was discharged on April 5, according to a complaint filed April 16 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Velez claims the defendant did not timely pay his employment wages owed in full for work performed.
The defendant violated the West Virginia Wage Payment and Collection Act, according to the suit.
Velez is seeking compensatory and punitive damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. He is being represented by Todd S. Bailess.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Carrie Webster.
