HUNTINGTON -- A mother is suing a Cabell County Deputy Sheriff, the Cabell County Commission, the Cabell County Sheriff's Department, Nationwide General Insurance Company, Progressive Max Insurance Company and an individual on behalf of her daughter after the child was struck by a vehicle.
On March 22, Boston E. Jones, a 7-year-old child, was the passenger of a vehicle driven by Matthew T. Knight that was struck by James William Johnston IV, a Cabell County Deputy Sheriff, according to a complaint filed April 30 in Cabell Circuit Court.
Jones' mother, Rachel M. Jones, claims Johnston was operating his vehicle in a negligent, wanton, reckless and illegal manner and was acting in the scope of his employment with the County Commission of Cabell County when he struck the vehicle of which Boston E. Jones was a passenger.
Rachel M. Jones claims her daughter has sustained physical injuries that required medical treatment.
Rachel M. Jones is seeking compensatory damages. She is being represented by D. Scott Tyree and Travis W. Hoffman.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge David M. Pancake.
